Monitoring of Concrete Structures – NDT approach
(in association with UltraTech Cement)
Date: 2nd Feb, 2015
Venue: Sharda University
Eligible Domains: Civil Engineering and Architecture (Bachelor & Masters)
Introductory note
The premature deterioration of concrete structures due to corrosion of the steel reinforcement is a big problem. The development of integrated monitoring systems for new reinforced concrete structures also help to reduce costs by allowing a more rational approach to the assessment of repair options, co-ordination and maintenance programs.
Monitoring of the concrete structures means not only the repair and rehabilitation of the concrete structures but also help in the selection of the repairing material.
The ability to monitor water and ionic access through the concrete cover-zone would provide an early warning of initial problems enabling the planning and scheduling of maintenance programs.
