GUIDELINES FOR PREPARATION OF B.
TECH. (HONOURS) PROJECT REPORT
Guideline
1: Sequence of Material
The sequence in which the material should be arranged and bound
shall be as follows:
1.
Two title pages (one printed on hard front cover and the other copy shall form
the first page inside the binding)
2.
Candidate’s Declaration and Certificate
3.
Acknowledgement
4.
Abstract
5.
Table of Contents
6. List of Figures (optional)
7. List of Tables (optional)
8. List of Symbols, Abbreviations
or Nomenclature (optional)
9. Chapters
10. References (shall not bear
any chapter number)
11. Appendices or Annexures (optional)
Guideline
2: Page Dimensions and Margins
·
The
project report shall be prepared on good quality white paper, preferably not
lower than 80 gsm.
·
Standard
A4 size (210 mm X 297 mm) paper shall be used for preparing the copies.
·
The
project report shall have the following page margins:
Top
edge : 1
inch (25 mm)
Left
side : 1 ½ inch (38 mm)
Bottom
edge : 1 inch (25 mm)
Right
side : 1 inch (25 mm)
Guideline
3: Font Type and Size
·
Times
New Roman font in size 12 shall be used throughout the text of the chapters
·
Title
of the chapter shall be in Times New Roman, but all capitals and size shall be
14 and bold.
·
The
spacing between the lines of the text in the chapters shall be 1.15 or 1.5

4: Abstract
Length of Abstract shall be 1 to
2 pages only.

5: Organization of Chapters
·
Chapter
1 shall be “INTRODUCTION” and the last chapter shall be “CONCLUSION”
·
Each
chapter shall have precise title reflecting the contents of the chapter
·
Each chapter shall begin on a fresh page
·
\ The
title of the chapter shall have the following format ( bold, centre aligned,
two lines).
Example:
CHAPTER 2
RFID AND GPS TECHNOLOGIES
·
Each
chapter shall be subdivided into sections and sub-sections so as to
present the content discretely and with due emphasis.
·
Sections
and sub-sections shall be numbered using decimal points, e.g., 2.2 for the
second Section of Chapter 2 and 2.3.4 for the fourth Subsection of third
Section of Chapter 2.

6: Page Numbering
The
dissertation has two basic parts: the preliminary pages and the text materials.
·
Lower-case
Roman numerals shall be used to number preliminary pages preceding the text (parts
2 to 8 given in Guidelines 1): i, ii,
iii, ….. etc. These numbers shall be positioned at the bottom of the page,
centered between the margins.
·
Beginning
with the first page of the text, all pages are to be numbered with Arabic
numerals consecutively throughout the document, including the Appendices (or
Annexures) and list of references: 1, 2, 3,…..etc. The Arabic numerals shall be
positioned at the bottom of the page, centered between the margins.

7: Formats
Formats of title page, Candidate’s Declaration and Certificate, and
Acknowledgement are enclosed
Guideline 8: Size of Project Report
The size of the dissertation shall be a minimum of 15 pages of typed
matter reckoned from the first page of Chapter 1 to the last page of the
Appendices. There is no limitation of maximum size.
Guideline 9: Number of copies to be submitted for evaluation
Number of copies to be submitted shall be 2 plus the number of supervisors.
Guideline 10: Binding Specifications

The student shall submit copies of the project report in fully bound form (hard cover) in light brown
colour and dark brown edge.
